Saturn S-Series Transmission Repair Kit
CarSaturn is pleased to present a repair kit to address common problems in all Saturn S-Series 1995-2002 automatic transmissions. This repair kit consists of (2) two repairs. One to correct the delay and harsh jolt putting the vehicle into gear- especially reverse. The second part of the repair kit is replacing the electro-hydraulic transmission valve body.
The main problem lies in the transmission valve body. It is a complex electrical and hydraulic part that is in charge of telling your car what gear to be in, and when to shift. When the electro-magnetic solenoids or hydraulic valves get worn out inside, the do not allow the transmission to shift correctly.
Instead of replacing the entire transmission with a used one, which may have little life left in it, replace what is malfunctioning- the valve body.
We now offer rebuilt valve bodies for sale to the general public. Every one is taken completely apart and rebuilt. In addition it is also honed to accept new valve sleeves.
Your local transmission shop can rebuild your transmission just like we can, but the difference is, that we only specialize on one transmission - This one! They charge $1500 or more. We charge what the job costs.
Beware of quote “rebuilt” kits sold elsewhere. We don’t “update” or “test”. We rebuilt it with SONAX TAAT reconditioning kits. The parts alone are over $150.00 just for the new valve parts. Specialized tools are in the thousands, so when you see a “rebuilt” kit for sale for only $150, then you can draw some conclusions. After all, from the outside there is not a visible difference from a used or rebuilt one.
Our reputation in this business is our pride and we stand behind all of our products for sale.
Please take the time to watch all three (3) videos below to understand how this repair kit is installed. As always, all videos are included on a DVD with every kit.
We accept returns within 30 days of purchase. All valve body units are sealed by CarSaturn and will not be accepted if returned with broken seal. 25% restocking fee will apply to all returns.

I installed this kit in my '02 Saturn and it resolved the problem (hard shifting). Kit was easy to install and saved me about $1200 over a replacement.

Recently the reverse gear went out on my Saturn. Sometimes it would be able to catch reverse, but most times it could not right away, or at all.
Finding this kit, I was unsure as to whether or not it would be the fix I needed. I watched the videos and came to the conclusion that $500 was worth risking, since most other solutions would be double or triple that.
I had a friend who is more mechanically inclined apply the kit for me. It took him the better part of the day to do both parts. The first part took only a few hours. The second part, close to 5. He is not a mechanic and did not have all of the necessary tools.
If you are doing both parts of this kit, you may want to keep in mind that the impact wrench used for the second part may not be an easy find if you just want to rent it, and to purchase it would be another $100+ if you don't already have one. My friend had to be creative to get that nut tightened, but it is possible without the impact wrench.
Other than that, the kit was great. They forgot to include the DVDs with it, so we referred to the videos posted on the product page (thank goodness they were there)
You also get a $40 credit if you send them back your used valve cover, so that's a plus if you plan to shop here in the future.

I ordered the kit expecting just the valve body, but was happy to also get a milled 23mm 12pt socket, cover gasket, and new 23mm nut. The only item I wish would have been included was something to secure the clutch pack from spring when trying to torque the input and output shaft nuts.
The website has a lot of good resources withy the videos and I had full confidence I could complete this project when my local mechanic would not. I hope to never have to buy the kit again, but will but from CarSaturn again if that needs comes!

Chevy dealer told me I needed a rebuilt transmission. I bought the CarSaturn valve body kit and installed it in a few hours with the help of the videos. Saturn now goes thru all four gears very smoothly.
